The members
of Assisted Living Association of Georgia and Georgia Association
of Community Care Providers are in the business of serving the senior and social
service needs of Georgia’s growing population.
Through their associations, these members work to advance
their common goals and address common problems.
At one time, workers’ compensation for members was a
big problem. High
and unpredictable premiums drained valuable resources away from
client services. The
lack of an alternative forced many organizations to obtain
coverage in the assigned risk pool, with poor claim service and
no loss control, which exacerbated the situation.
In 1992
health care industry leaders from these associations joined
together to solve their workers’ compensation problems by
establishing the Workers’ Compensation Fund for Health Care,
and this collaboration continues to reap benefits today. On January 1, 2001, Health Care Mutual took over the
Workers’ Compensation Fund for Health Care, and began
operation as a Georgia domiciled captive insurance company.
The goal of Health Care Mutual, like its predecessor, is
to provide a stable source of quality workers’ compensation
coverage for its members. The
captive structure eliminates “joint and several liability”
for members and allows more flexibility.

Administered
by Georgia Administrative Services, Health Care Mutual has a
conservative management philosophy with an emphasis on personal
service and long-term relationships.
It is member owned, with the potential for dividends.
A membership elected Board of Directors governs the
Company.
Health Care
Mutual supports the industry it serves by providing royalty
payments to the sponsoring associations.
The associations use this money to provide advocacy,
education, governmental relations and networking opportunities
for their members.
